War update by Former US secretary of Defence : Russia broke the stalemate in Ukraine

Former US secretary of defence said on Wednesday, “Russian military has recently broken the stalemate in the war against Ukraine. Well, it would be right to state that, It’s no longer remains a stalemate.

Russians are on the offensive along the 600-mile front. Russia as a country has suffered huge loss in war but where Ukraine is concerned, Ukraine is confronting artillery shortages with the help of US support. Gates said, “Its like table has turned and even though there is much that needs to be done the initiative has been passed to them.”

He even further added that, “ More supplies are coming in, No matter where you see or read for every artillery shell fired by Ukrainian army, the Russian armies have responded with 10.

On Monday, few Russian officials made an announcement that its forces has finally captured the key city of Avdiivka along with taking full control of the city largest coke plant. It did marked first victory in months of war for Russia and of course one of the most significant gain we would say since taking nearby Bakhmut last spring.

United states President Biden has indeed pinned the blame for Ukraine battlefield losses directly on House of Republicans, who on the other hand have refused to back additional aid to Kyiv without major immigration reform. European allies in NATO have majorly stepped up their game in providing support to Ukraine but lack the ability to immediately send weapons. Production timelines will see NATO support reach the battlefield in 2025, Gates estimated.

Right now, “the only real military lifeline comes from the United States. And as we all know, that is, shall we say, on pause right now,” he said. Aid to Ukraine still relies in the House, where Speaker Mike Johnson is caught between moderates who majorly support Ukraine and far-right members who oppose it without major concessions from Democrats on the border.

Congress specifically if we talk about, they are being too slow on approving key battlefield capabilities throughout the war including missile systems that have allowed strikes against Russian-occupied Crimea, which he called a “no-brainer.” I mean these weapons could have easily arrived at least a year and a half earlier, but their delay has not only restrained Ukraine’s abilities but have left them hanging in the crisis.

Ukraine should be provided with significant air-defence capacity to establish a strong defensive barrier, so they don’t lose any more territory,” Gates said. Passing the package of course would send a strong message to Russia that “It’s not going be easy, that they’re not going to be successful in achieving their petty goals,”

Further to this, Russians have been flexing its diplomatic muscles and its important because push for negotiations that prioritize its interests and seeking to undermine Western influence in the region. This includes proposals such as a new security systemin Europe that would help in fade the role of NATO and by doing so also puts a limit on the expansion of Western institutions into former Soviet territories.

Conclusion-

As tensions continue to grow between the two country it’s important for all parties to exercise a little restraint and try to work together towards a peaceful resolution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Let’s not ignore the fact that failure in doing so could have tragic consequences for the region and the world at large.
